Synchronous Objects

February 19, 2009

Synchronous Objects is a new interactive web project developed by William Forsythe in collaboration with Ohio State’s Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD) and the Department of Dance. Starting with Forsythe’s masterwork One Flat Thing, reproduced as the research resource, the project reveals the deep structures of choreographic thinking in order to enrich cross-disciplinary investigation and creativity.  Forsythe’s work is noted for its Laban-based influences in his conceptualization of space.

The GreenDot Project

October 28, 2008

GreenDot is a research project that investigates motion capture, pattern recognition, and “Intrinsic Biometrics” techniques to detect human body language in video. The goal of the project is to train a computer to recognize a person based on his or her motions, and to identify the person’s emotional state, cultural background, and other attributes.  Part of the research is based in Laban Movement Analysis.
